Theodoret
From Maronite History
Theodoret was a fifth-century bishop of Cyrus and author of Religiosa Historia, which Maronite writers have used to back up claims that Saint John Maron I was the "Father" of the Maronite Church. He studied at the theological school of Theodore of Mopsuestia. He was involved in the controversy between his friend Nestorius and Saint Cyril, his opponent, but was forced to condemn the former at the Council of Chalcedon in 451.
Religiosa Historia is the only source that describes the ascetic life of John Maron, even though Theodoret never met John Maron.
