Peter Makhluf
From Maronite History
He entered the Maronite Roman College in 1638, was an excellent student especially learned in Syriac, which he taught at the college.
When he returned to Lebanon in 1651, he was ordained priest at Mar Shallita in Ghosta. He was sent in 1668 by Patriarch George Besebely to Rome, where he collaboration with Faustus in the revision and publication of Al-Phenqith.
Peter Makhluf returned to Lebanon in 1670.

Ordination as Bishop
Patriarch al-Duaihy ordained him bishop of Cyprus in 1674. He undertook with Bishop Youssef al-Hasruny, under the supervision of Patriarch al-Duaihy, the examination and revision of the book of clerical ordinations.
On his way to Rome in 1679, he was taken prisoner of pirates and incarcerated for two months in Libya.
Death
After his release, he returned to Lebanon in 1672 and died in 1707.

- Translation from Latin to Arabic of the Life of Christ
- A treatise on the Church.
- Biographies of Saints, in two volumes.
- Many poems and prayers in Syriac.
