Kanaan Daher

His life and death
The Dahers were governors of the district of Zawyet Rash'in in the neighborhood of Tripoli and Zghorta in northern Lebanon.
One of them, Sheikh Kanaan Daher was reputed for his courage and valors. In 1741, the Turkish waly (Governor) of Tripoli seized him and proposed that he convert to Islam, giving many promises of high positions and wealth if he agreed, as well as threats of tormonets and death if he refuses Islam.
Daher remaind firm in professing his Christian faith. When the sentence of death was proclaimed for him, he found a was of meeting Father Michael from Ehden, to whom he made a general confession followed by the holy communion and the Last Sacrements. Kanaan Daher was beheaded at Bad al tabbaneh in Tripoli.
